Societal Barriers Based on Sexual Orientation, Gender, and Race
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page discussion of the numerous societal barriers and limitations which are put in place on the basis of race, gender, and sexual orientation. Contends that since the advent of the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s, societal restrictions and limitations made on the basis of gender and race have slowly lessened. The reason for this change is the willingness of individuals to stand up for their basic rights, to exert their differences and to insist that there be no societal differentiation based on those differences. While there has been tremendous progress in regard to societal equality of the races and genders, however, there are still many barriers and limitations which are imposed on such factors as sexual orientation. The author contends that these restrictions and limitations can be overcome as well. All that is needed is the willingness to do so and the fortitude to stand in the face of all resistance. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

Spousal Homicide: Can It Be Defended?
[ send me this paper ]
(6 pp) The significance and use of a successful
provocation plea as an extenuating ground is
usually that it reduces murder to manslaughter,
despite the fact the defendant intended to-and
did-kill in anger. The unique feature of
provocation is that the plea may extenuate even
though it is accepted that, in killing, the
defendant was not seeking to save him or herself
from death or injury. The following information
should enforce the possibility of use of the
provocation defense.

Strip Clubs: Their Role In Society
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. The human being is a highly sexual animal. More than any other innate attribute, sex resides at the forefront of humanity's desires. This natural reaction to the opposite sex is the fundamental reason why strip clubs exist and continue to thrive amidst public opposition. As a rule, the world of strip clubs is a man's domain where beautiful yet unattainable women are the objects of unrequited sexual desire. Theirs is a visual world that requires the stimulation of seeing a naked body in order to be aroused, which speaks directly to one of the most prominent reasons why strip clubs are such an integral part of contemporary society. The Changing Role Of Housework And Child Care In The Women's Lives In Meg Luxton's "More Than A Labour Of Love"
[ send me this paper ]
8 pages in length. Gender inequity has long been a social ill inextricably linked with female oppression, with the homefront the primary location where this predisposition is most apparent. According to Meg Luxton, author of "More Than A Labour of Love: Three Generations of Women's Work in the Home," the free labor women have been providing for centuries is the basis upon which society revolves and, thereby, perpetuates itself. If women did not stay home and tend to the children and housework, the men would not be able to seek work outside the home; as such, women's contribution to a successful society is both critical and wholly ignored.
