The Call Of Moses
[ send me this paper ]
This 6 page paper discusses and explains the Call of Moses found in Exodus. Moses is introduced in a very concise and dramatic way and while there are years missing, we can say that Moses' life was divided into three 'forties': the first forty he spent as a prince in Pharaoh’s court, the second a shepherd in Midian, the third a king in Jeshurun. Moses was frightened when he saw the burning bush and heard his name called and he tried to avoid following the call of God by explaining how unqualified he was. The writer discusses the call from God and explains the disappointment and fear of Moses even later in his journey. The writer also discusses the fact that God, when He calls someone to complete a mission, has already prepared that person and this is true for Christians today as it was for Moses. Bibliography lists 10 sources.

The Gnostics.
[ send me this paper ]
(7 pp) Knowledge has always fascinated Man, his
curious nature prods him to seek it, often only
to find out that he lacks the virtue to use it.
In a very true sense knowledge is in fact
power; this seems to be an unalterable constant
whether in the ancient world or today. What we
are about to investigate in this article is the
"Gnostic" religion. Their appeal is a simple
one. In a turbulent and unpredictable ancient
world, at a time when Man felt that he was but a
puppet in the hands of fortune, the Gnostics
proclaimed aloud: "Come to us and we will
enlighten you with Knowledge that will give you
the power to be in charge of your destiny!"

The Hajj
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 3 page paper discussing the Muslim pilgrimage, the Hajj from a religious and modern perspective. The Hajj (Al-Hajj) is an obligatory pilgrimage for Muslims to Makkah (Mecca) in Saudi Arabia during the month of Hajj, Dhul Hijjah. Hajj is the Fifth Pillar of Islam and is therefore a requirement of all Muslims who are capable of making the journey. The Umrah is an optional lesser pilgrimage which can be performed any time during the year for those who are not able to perform the Hajj. Al-Hajj takes place over five days from the 8th to the 13th days of Dhul Hijjah. The term “Hajj” literally means “a resolve” such as “to resolve to some magnificent duty” and it is considered as “the realization of Prophet Abraham’s Prayer”. The commitment to the Hajj is not an easy one as pilgrims must be physically, mentally and financially be able to make the journey and complete the five days of strict rituals. Despite the complexity of the Hajj, over 2 million Muslims make the pilgrimage each year and are supported by the citizens of Mecca and the country of Saudi Arabia which continues to update the city to accommodate more pilgrims.
